Design Muse
Since I love creating my own hand-rendered type in my pieces, it's no surprise that I love the work of designer Jessica Hische. I saw her speak last fall at a Design Madison event and have been in love ever since. She is a great example of how a designer can create a niche in the design community and use it to make a name for themselves. I like the free flowing-ness of her letterform style. Though she does her lettering on the computer, it still has a textural quality that you just want to touch. It is a nice way integrate some hand-done-ness into the highly technical world of graphic design. Her daily blog called the Daily Drop Cap is also a testament to her imagination and hard work. She has created 3 complete alphabets one decorative letter at a time.
